“please keep raining....”

published July 23, 2026

“Will this rain end?...cuz I don't want it to.”

It's dim. The wind is blowing hard outside as it storms. Rainwater streaks across the window. Meanwhile, on the inside, it's dark and quiet. Cat kid solemnly watches outside.

I KEEP MAKING ART THAT PEOPLE CAN'T EVEN SEE, GODDAMMIT—

This was weird. I left the rough outline in, I've been making this at night and so yes, I am aware of how bad the posting time looks, but shhhhh ssshhhhhhhhh 🤫 you don't see that....

Bu'yeah, I didn't do this as refined as I have in the past. I wonder whether my art's “regressing”, or simply finding its way into another direction? Where I am, it's been raining on and off, as if Mother Nature has been flipping a rain switch on and off multiple times a day. I don't mind it though. There's just a lot of little things that influenced what I ended up making here. Cuz originally, I just wanted it to be cozy furry boyo curling up next to a window, in cozy skin-tight polyester clothes (my favorite clothing material, I'll risk the microplastics for the soothing feeling 😌), watching some nice brilliant indigo scene outside.

Furry boyo...didn't actually turn out the exact way I wanted. I have this particular character in mind, out of a set of characters, and so this guy is close, but he may as well be some rando, cuz the hair and ears deviated. Let's call 'im a third-cousin-removed, or summin' like that. Also I just chose random unexpected colors than what I had in my head, and the clothes are just the color of some stuffs that I have in my own wardrobe. NOT A 'SONA. JUST A CHARACTER. Idk if I could do a 'sona, personas always feel off to me...I just want to make cool-looking characters like in the comick and the intorrnet, that's all....

I feel like this artwork was a bit weak in execution cuz I frequently felt “this isn't right” but could also barely think of what felt weird and what to fix, and it irritated me. But I really started to appreciate this strange approach I was taking once I started coloring. It was as freeing as the messy skribblez I made in high school. Haaa...what could get me to make more art again? Cuz for the sake of my psychological well-being, I should maybe draw more instead of just reading shit and coding shit and wearing my brain thin. My brain needs crop-rotation but for ideas. YEE

I made this while listening to emotional songs, like that fucking 1000 Words, and Spinning Globe from The Boy and the Heron. Another little thing that had An Impact. Just makes you wanna make something so moody, dammit!!!

You made it to the end of the post, yay! As a reward, here's a brighter alt, which is basically just the flats:

A brighter, but also rougher-looking, version of the same image from the start of the article.
